Tom Jackson 0947) (USS Templar - Main Engineering - Myers 0541) =============================================================================================================================================== (USS Templar - Main Engineering - Myers 0541) Myers was almost as giddy as a new ensign on his first assignment. While orders were orders, Scott knew that Odaola put some, if not most of the blame for the transfer on his shoulders. Scott didn't put up much of a fight, but what else could he do? It had been just over 5 years since he was assigned aboard a star ship and he was looking forward to the challenges a Sovereign class would bring. At least here he would actually see something, be out in space, in the thick of things he thought. "Good morning." He said passing several in engineering. He'd not met the chief engineer as yet, but had reviewed his new boss's credentials and was eager to meet Commander Brown. Feeling somewhat of an amateur Myers took up a station and reviewed how the Templar was behaving so far. ~Everything seems normal...interfaces have a familiar look...should work the same as on the star base except there is warp drive on this thing.~ "Good morning Commander." said the engineering officer. "May I help you sir?" she continued. "Good morning lieutenant." he started leaning into the younger officer. "I do feel a but like a fish out of water. Its been sometime since I've been assigned to a star ship." "You must be Commander Myers." she started. "Lieutenant commander Scott Myers, the new /assistan//t/ chief engineer." he replied. Lisa giggled, "Nice to meet you commander. I haven't seen Commander Brown as yet, but I hear he's aboard. We should see him alpha shift. He's very punctual." "Lieutenant?" started Myers wondering her full name. She blushed, "Lieutenant Lisa Rhodes sir." "Miss Rhodes...if your duties permit would you mind giving me a tour of engineering and...and where everything is?" she said smiling. "Of course sir." she added. (Reply none) (Posted by Steve) (USS Templar - Main Engineering - CEO CDR Brown - 0626) Dan had managed to put the terror behind him. After all, it was *only* a dream. At least that's what he kept telling himself when it crept into his consciousness. No matter, he was here, now. That was all that meant anything. PADD tucked under his arm, toolkit fastened to his engineering jumpsuit, the all important coffee in his hand, he stepped through into the familiar environs of Main Engineering as the blast doors parted on his approach. He took his time, stopping to greet several of his old crew mates as he passed. As soon as he'd gotten through the doors, he had spotted his quarry, and casually made his way over to where his new assistant was standing. He smiled broadly and extended his hand. "Commander Myers I presume. Dan Brown, welcome aboard." (Reply Myers) Brown listened as Myers responded. He nodded slightly then replied. "I'm glad to see you are making yourself at home. You'll find she's no Starbase -- she's far greater than that," he chuckled quietly. (Reply Myers) "One of the benefits of having a practically brand new ship is the gripe list tends to be relatively short. But there's always plenty to keep us busy nonetheless. Have you met the team yet?" (Reply Myers) Dan glanced around, seeing three faces aside from Myers that he didn't know. He mentally matched them with the duty roster. "We've got three new folks on Alpha shift, aside from yourself. Let's get you introduced around, Commander." (Reply Myers, Any) (Posted by Russ) (USS Templar Bridge CAPT Jackson 0830) Tom sat in the center seat. He was trying to display an air of confidence which he really didn't feel internally. "All hands, this the Captain speaking. Prepare for departure. All departments report your statuses" Tom ordered . (Reply: all areas) The crew was prompt in their response. Tom turned to the new First Officer and ordered "Commander, take us out". (Reply Signos) Tom watched Jessica as she worked. He was very proud of her and the other crew members. The Templar was soon on her way - heading toward her fate under a new and untried skipper. (Reply any) (Posted by Bill) (USS Templar - CEO's Quarters - CDR Brown - 0545) The scream continued. On, and on, and on, and on. It was his own, and yet was that of a total stranger. He stopped it -- more accurately -- he ran out of air. He was bolt upright in his bed, blankets tossed about like some child's toy after a particularly nasty tantrum. ~Breathe. In. Hold... exhale. Breathe. In. Hold... exhale...~ Dan repeated this mantra several times before his ragged panting was under control once more. Only then did a gentle wash of air from his cabin ventilation brush across his skin, and he could feel his clothing completely soaked, and sticking like a second skin. ~Damned nightmare. AGAIN. What's that? Six? Seven? nights in a row. This is -- was -- my first night back aboard the ship, I thought it wouldn't happen here?? Once I got out of sickbay, it should have stopped. Dammit.~ He rotated slowly, placing his feet on the floor. The cool, firm feeling of the decking calmed him, made him feel like he was finally coming home after a long absence. There was, he realized at once, still a way to travel to get back to whom and where he was supposed to be. Would he ever truly make it back? Only time would tell. Time. "Computer, lights, forty percent, increase to full over the next two minutes. Lower cabin temperature by 3 degrees Celsius." As the computer did so without verbal acknowledgment, he fervently hoped that the chill air and light would help to scrub the miasma of the nightmare from his brain. ~Either that, or I'll be making a trip or five to the Counselor's office...~ He tossed his sodden nightclothes into the recycler and then stepped into his sonic shower. He slowly turned up the intensity until it became almost more force than he could bear. [Warning: Sonic Shower intensity approaching safety limit,] intoned the emotionless computer voice. His only reply was to dial the intensity back slightly. Fortunately, it was still more than sufficient to scrub the perspired materials from his body. And erase the tears from his cheeks. After what seemed an eternity, or actually nearly eight minutes ship time, he stepped out, feeling nearly human once again. "Coffee, double strength, black," he commanded the replicator. As soon as it appeared, he took a deep pull, nearly burning himself in the process. He put the mug down, and stared at his reflection in the mirror over his dresser. His fingers made thier way unbidden to gently, hesitantly, trace where the radiation burns had been. The dermal regenerators, coupled with the incredible skill of the Starbase Doctors -- to say nothing of Captain Durand's field dressing skills --, coupled with intensive gene therapy, had done the trick. His face was his own, physically. And yet, his mind's eye still saw that savagely contorted and blinded face which he had worn all those weeks. He exhaled forcefully and turned away. His coffee had cooled in the time he'd been lost in the mirror; the second pull was just the right temperature. "Computer, review today's engineering duty roster and assignments for Alpha shift, please." As he listened, he began to remember just who he was supposed to be. (Reply None) (Posted by Russ) (USS Templar Sickbay, CMO LT Tyler Conley 0833) Tom sat in the center seat. He was trying to display an air of confidence which he really didn't feel internally. "All hands, this the Captain speaking. Prepare for departure. All departments report your statuses" Tom ordered . “Sickbay ready for departure” Tyler replied as he walked off the sickbay floor and into his office. Tyler sit looking out over sickbay he felt content with his new position with the crew. The medical department was a bit smaller ten his would like but he would make due. Tyler picked up the mission pad he wanted to review he knew he wasn’t going to play a major role if anything he might get to be there for a meeting and if that was the case he wanted to be prepared. (reply any) (posted by Richard) (USS Templar - Bridge - FO Cmdr Jessica Signos -  Day 01, 0834) Jessica was given the order to take the Templar out of its moorings. Jessica stood and took a deep breath.  "Open the Comms." (Reply communications) "Templar to Station command, requesting permission to disembark." =/\= Permission granted Templar and good Travels. Well maintain tractor lock till you are away. =/\= " Roger that," Jessica replied into open channel. "Helm pull out back from the station." (Reply Rozen) Jessica felt the Templar come alive under it's own power as  it slowly began to pull away from the station. There was a slight pull as the docking clamps opened and lifted their grip from the hull of the Templar. Free from the station the Templar backed away faster. The pace was a bit quicker than normal but Jessica understood the need, An wanted to be free of the station and the prying eyes of S31.  There was a slight flash as the tractor beam disengaged.  =/\= Templar you are now clear if the Starbase and are clear to plot your own course. =/\= The voice from the station responded then the comment channel chirped to a close.  Jessica nodded. "Helm bring us about to course heading 62819 mark 3. Warp 4." (Reply Any) Once she got confirmation that the couse was set Jessica smiled at Tom as she took her seat next to the Captain. "Engage." She ordered the helm. Jessica read and felt the power surge in the Templar as it entered light speed and the where off on a new adventure. (Reply An, Tom, any on Bridge.) (Posted by Matthew Locke)  (USS Templar - Bridge - CTO LT Alexander Hartmann - 0835) The bridge felt different, somehow, but not in a bad way. The air seemed still and hushed, with a quiet sort of anticipation like a theater just before the show starts. It was the first time Alex had started a mission at a bridge position, and the open area seemed a world away from the comparatively small security office. He had taken a position at the tactical console on the starboard side of the bridge. He had some experience with the station from the end of the last mission, but now there was some new scenery in the center of the bridge. Captain Jackson was taking his first turn in the big chair, with Counselor Bruce seated at his left side. On the captain's right, just feet away from Alex's own station, sat Jessica. Alex grinned to himself. Even after switching departments and moving to the bridge, he still found himself working under her. Not that he minded, of course. It was actually comforting in a way. After all the changes he'd gone through since arriving on the old Soval, it was nice to have something close to a constant in his life. Looking around the rest of the bridge he saw Ansia seated at the conn. He hoped she was feeling better now that they were leaving Starbase 159. He also noticed - and not for the first time - that the tactical stations seemed to be the only ones without some kind of seating. Sure it made sense for the tactical officer to always be alert, but shouldn't that be true of anyone on the bridge? "All hands, this the Captain speaking. Prepare for departure. All departments report your statuses," Jackson ordered . Alex checked his display which was currently divided into two screens, with the left side showing the ship's sensor display and the right with the LCARS control setup. "Shields standing by at full capacity," he stated. "Phasers are charged and torpedoes are ready for arming." (Reply: all areas) Jackson turned to Jessica and ordered "Commander, take us out". (Reply Signos) Alex planted his hands on his console, bracing himself against the gentle but sudden acceleration. It seemed Ansia was pushing the ship out of dock just a bit faster than regulation speed, as if she was eager to put distance between Templar and the base. He hadn't heard any details yet about their destination this time, but he was sure the captain would share the information when it was time. (reply any) (posted by Tony) (USS Templar Bridge CAPT Jackson 0930) They were at long last underway. Tom Jackson was relieved and worried at the same time. The fact Section 31's associate director Sloane was out there somewhere and still active troubled Tom. Tom decided to let the crew in on the reason for the current assignment. " Attention all hands, this is the Captain speaking. We've been assigned what looks likr a 1st Contact mission. SF Science has reported unusual activity near the far reaches of the Gamma Quadrant. Indications are such that no known readings from a deep space probe match anything we have on file" Jackson added pausing for a moment. (Reply Any iyw) Tom had Alex Hartmann increase vigilance with "Lt. Hartmann, keep an eye out for anything or anyone who might be following us" (Reply Alex) Tom continued "We've been ordered to investigate and report our findings. Each department head will be holding briefings with more details. So stay alert and be ready -Jackson out." Turning to Lt (jg) Rozen, he ordered "you have the CONN. Number 1 and Lt Bruce please come with me to the Ready Room". (Reply Rozen, Bruce and Signos) (Posted by Bill) (USS Templar - Bridge/ Ready Room- FO Cmdr. Jessica Signos - 0933) Jessica nodded as she followed the Captain and the 2O into the the Ready Room. Once they were all seated around the table. Jessica turned to the Captain. "This mission is gonna be quite a test for our crew. Diplomacy will be a must. Deep space probes have acquired little on the race that we are to make contact with." (Reply gathered) "What we know is this race lives between land and undersea colonies. This had lead to fighting between the two groups." Shaking her head. "We dont why war broke out on the planet. What we do know is that six month ago there was a massive technological jump. Deep space probes detected wrap signals coming from their planet Terra Gennic 9. Since then fighting have stopped planetside. That's why the Federation as  thought it prudent to make contact." (Reply gathered.) She allowed the  two take in what she had reported. Looking back and forth between the two. "The Federation is hoping contact with an outside race would further the process to peace." (Reply Jackson, Bruce) (Posted by Matthew Locke)  (USS Templar - Bridge/ Ready Room- CO CAPT. Tom Jackson 0947) Tom listened as Signos went over the misson data. She furnished a concise report. Tom allowed for questions from the other two.l "As Commander Signos mentioned we are on what I hope is one of peace." Tom added. Turning to Signos and Bruce he instructed " I need you two to make sure each department head thourghly briefs their personnel. I never liked being left out of the loop" Jackson stated. (Reply Signos and Bruce)  A point Jessica mentioned struck me as intriguing - We dont why war broke out on the planet. What we do know is that six month ago there was a massive technological jump. Deep space probes detected wrap signals coming from their planet Terra Genni. SF Command wants us to contact both parties and see if we can open diplomatic activities" Tom added. (Reply Signos and Bruce 'Red' Bruce had been quiet. He needed to know her mind."Red, what do you think is going on ?" . (Reply Red) (Posted by Bill)
